(1981)Professional ratings Review scores Source Rating Allmusic [1] Directions is a compilation double album by jazz musician Miles Davis. It collects outtakes not previously issued from a variety of sessions over a ten-year period. "Song of Our Country" is from the sessions that led to Sketches of Spain and there is a "new" version of "'Round Midnight" from 1961, along with "So Near, So Far" dating from 1963.
The remainder is from the transitional 1967-1970 period when Davis was experimenting with combining jazz and rock. (Water Babies and Circle in the Round, released in the late 1970s, also document this transition from acoustic to electric jazz fusion.)
