(1987)"Tutu" is an album released in 1986 by
Miles Davis onWarner Bros. Records . Named in tribute of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the first black Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, the album heavily utilizes electronic instruments and synthesizers. The track "Full Nelson" refers toNelson Mandela . Miles had originally been planning to collaborate with Prince on the album, but this cooperation failed to materialize. It was produced byTommy LiPuma andMarcus Miller , with Miller, who wrote almost all the songs, played almost all instruments and did almost all the arrangements, exceptGeorge Duke , who wrote, played, arranged and co-produced "Backyard Ritual" (with Tommy LiPuma).
