It was formed in August, 2011 and came to join some other opposition alliances that were already active. It has specially promoted public and civic actions against the conviction of former PM Yulia Tymoshenko who is also the leader of one of the member parties. [1]

As of October 2011, the Committee is formed by the following parties:

  • All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland": biggest opposition party lead by Yulia Tymoshenko. It's also the principal member of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc And it's an observer member of the European People's Party
  • Front for Change: a centrist political party lead by former Foreign Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk. Until now it had been wary to cooperate with Tymoshenko's forces. [2]
  • "People's Self-Defense" Party: a former member of Viktor Yuschenko's own bloc, this party is lead by another political prisoner: former Minister of Internal Affaris Yuriy Lutsenko.
  • People's Movement of Ukraine: a conservative party lead by former Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk. It's also an observer member of the European People's Party.
  • European Party of Ukraine: a liberal party lead by Mykola Katerynchuk, a Tymoshenko ally.
  • Reforms and Order Party: a liberal party which is also member of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc. It's lead by Serhiy Sobolev.
  • Motherland Defenders Party: a former member of Yuschenko's bloc. It's lead by Yuyiy Karmazin.
  • Civil Position: a small party lead by former Defence Minister Anatoliy Hritsenko. In the same month of August in which the alliance was created, it was reported that Civil Position would merge with the European Party of Ukraine soon. [3]
