History
The Deckdisc officially began his career as a record label in 1998, with distribution from Universal Music. The first success was the series of sound bars, which reached one million copies sold in its five volumes. It was founded by John Augustus who was CEO of Virgin Records, which is still the record label EMI. While John Augustus was director of Virgin Records, EMI had a group who recorded a composition of his son: Mamonas Assassinas. In 1999 brought back to the music scene the band Ultraje with the launch of the CD "18 Anos Sem Tirar" and in 2000 came the biggest hit of all, the launch of the debut CD of Falamansa.
In November 2001, Deckdisc became the first brazilian independent label to launch its own distribution in Rio de Janeiro.
It is also owned by Deckdisc, Editora Musical Deck that has about 4000 songs and released more than 2000 already recorded. Among its authors are big collectors copyright of Brazil, as Tato (Falamansa), Pitty, Zé Henrique (dual Zé Henrique & Gabriel), Thais Nascimento, Miltinho Edilberto, Eduardo Krieger, Edgard Scandurra (Ira!) Roger Moreira (Ultraje), Teresa Cristina, Pedro Miranda and members of the Group of Revelation, the Sorriso Maroto and the bands Dead Fish, Gram, and Ludov. The Director of the Company is borne by the producer and music entrepreneur curitibano Marcelo Maia. In 2007, Deck bought over 3000 copyrights of Abril Publishing, formerly music publishing arm of Abril Music, a defunct record label owned by Grupo Abril.
