David Lane, also known as Davey Lane (born on 31 January 1981), is an Australian musician, lead guitarist of You Am I (since 1999),[1][2] and frontman of The Pictures.[1] He is also a guitarist in Australian supergroup The Wrights.[1]

Biography

Lane joined You Am I in 1999 at just eighteen years of age as a second guitarist for the band.[2][3][4]

Lane performed with The Wrights at Waveaid in aid of the Boxing Day Tsunami, presented at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 29 January 2005. In 2005 Lane also joined Jimmy Barnes' band, and released The Pictures[3][4] debut album, Pieces of Eight. In 2006, Lane was nominated for Best Male Guitarist at the Jack Awards, for his work with You Am I. In 2007, he joined Crowded House for their tour in Europe and Australia, temporarily replacing Neil Finn's son Liam on miscellaneous guitar, keyboard and backup vocal duties. Late 2008 saw the release of You Am I's Dilettantes and the Pictures' Kicking Indifference.

  • Contributed to the Dirty Deeds soundtrack.[5]
  • Lane has made multiple appearances on talk shows and musical presentation programs such as Rove Live,[5] Rockwiz, JTV (now known as Triple J TV), The Carnival with Roy and HG, The Fat, Studio 22, The Gig, 10:30 Slot, as well as getting the honorable privilege of programming the music video program Rage (ABC) with You Am I in 2006.
  • He is also webmaster and an occasional presenter on Melbourne Community Radio station Stereo 974's Let It Be Beatles program.[6]
