He won the newly-created seat from Labour in the 2011 Scottish Parliament election with a majority of just under 3000 votes.[1] Beattie previously worked as a banker and was SNP group leader on Midlothian Council.[1] Colin Beattie is also the current serving SNP National Treasurer.
