October 10 1945 ,Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician. A member of theScottish National Party (SNP), he was elected to theScottish Parliament to represent Highlands and Islands at the 2003 election.While attending the
University of Dundee he headed the SNP student wing, theFederation of Student Nationalists . He was a councillor inRoss and Cromarty and worked as a teacher before taking early retirement in 1995. Whilst a councillor Gibson was instrumental in setting up Dingwall’s annual moustache growing competition. Gibson came runner-up in 1996 but was subsequently stripped of his medal after an independent inquiry.His partner is the former Highlands and Islands MSP,Eleanor Scott , of theScottish Green Party .External links
