Xu Zhonglin (simplified Chinese: 许仲琳; traditional Chinese: 許仲琳; pinyin: Xǔ Zhōnglín; d. 1560,[1] born in Nanjing, China) was a Ming Dynasty Chinese writer, best known as the author of the mythological-fantasy novel Fengshen Yanyi.

Some[who?] say that Xu wrote the novel for a trousseau for his daughter. His hao (號), a type of Chinese style name, might be "Zhongshan Yishou" (鍾山逸叟), which literally means "a carefree old man living in Zhongshan". The name appears in Chapter 2 of Fengshen Yanyi.
