Biography
Early Career and School
Mandi Perkins was born and raised in Toronto, Canada.[1] Her ambitions inspired a move to California to pursue both a career in music and to attend UC Berkeley where she graduated with Honors with a degree in English Literature. Immediately following graduation, Mandi made a move to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in music while simultaneously attending law school.[1]
Mandi toured the country and performed regularly at venues on the Sunset Strip such as The Roxy, The Viper Room, The Key Club and The Troubadour. She graduated, passed the California State Bar and completed her first independent full length album, bleeding the line …, in 2007. [2]
The release of Mandi's album garnered her industry attention, including that of Jeff Rosen, Bob Dylan’s longtime head of publishing. Jeff introduced her to executives at Sony Music who subsequently signed her to a record deal.[1] Mandi immediately began work on her major label debut album, Alice In No Man’s Land.
Alice In No Man's Land
After the collapse of the RCA Victor label and the firing of her label head [3], Alice In No Man’s Land only saw a limited digital release.[4] All the lyrics on Alice In No Man’s Land were written by Mandi and the album was produced by Warren Huart (The Fray, Augustana) and mixed by Michael Brauer (Coldplay, John Mayer). Mandi was represented by CAA and toured nationally throughout North America and parts of Canada.[5] MSN Music and Clear Channel Online both featured her as their “One To Watch” artists and Yahoo Music named her one of their “Who’s Next” artists.[6]
of Verona
After securing her release from Sony and headlining a summer of national touring[7], Mandi started a new band project named of Verona that launched in the summer of 2010.[8]
