Deng Mao Traditional Chinese 鄧茂 Simplified Chinese 邓茂 Transcriptions Mandarin - Hanyu Pinyin Dèng Mào Deng Mao is a fictional character in Luo Guanzhong's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.[1] He was a high ranking Yellow Turban rebel general. He and Cheng Yuanzhi led an army of about 50,000 men to attack imperial forces. They encountered a 500 strong volunteer force, led by Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Liu taunted the rebels so Cheng ordered Deng to challenge Liu's men. Liu sent Zhang Fei to fight Deng, and Zhang slew Deng with a single blow. Cheng was slain by Guan Yu shortly afterwards and his rebel army disintegrated.
