The Yellow Belt is the third "belt" in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania 'sPittsburgh/Allegheny County Belt System and the second of two belts to make a complete circumference of the city (the first being theBlue Belt ), over a distance of convert|80|mi|km though the northern, eastern, and southern sectors of the county.cite map |publisher = County of Allegheny |title = Allegheny County Pennsylvania Information Map |accessdate = 2008] For several miles in the southern part of thecounty , it is the outermost of the belts. (TheOrange Belt has a gap where it used to enter intoWashington County, Pennsylvania and theRed Belt runs exclusively in the north of the city.) The belt was originally set up in the 1940s though the current route was finalized in 1972.The Yellow Belt stretches from its southernmost point in
South Park, Pennsylvania , north and west to the border ofMoon, Pennsylvania , north and east toHampton, Pennsylvania , and east as far as the border toPlum, Pennsylvania before returning to the start. It crosses or followsPennsylvania routes PA 50, PA 51, PA 60, PA 65, PA 88, PA 121, PA 130, PA 148, PA 380, PA 791, and PA 910. It also crosses or follows US 19 and US 22 and also briefly followsI-79 fromNeville Island toSewickley , making it the only belt to be signed over anInterstate Highway .
