David Bonneville (b. Porto, 1978) is a Portuguese film director, screenwriter and producer. He currently lives in London where he worked for the BBC.
Biography
Graduated in Sound and Image at the Catholic University of Portugal / Pompeu Fabra University, Spain. He received a Masters Degree in Screenwriting & Producing from the University of Westminster. He was also one of the selected directors for the prestigious Gulbenkian Foundation Arts Programme with the German Film Academy in Berlin (dffb). Bonneville started his career as an assistant with Cannes Palme d'Or winner Manoel de Oliveira, Jaume Balagueró and Douglas Gordon.
His short film Heiko won the Best Short Film Award at the 24th Copenhagen Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and obtained a Special Mention at the 10th Slamdance Film Festival, Park City, Utah, USA. Heiko was nominated in New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Melbourne, São Paulo and Turin. He was selected to the Berlinale Talent Campus and his film is distributed by German-based Salzgeber, and UK's Peccadillo Pictures.
L'Arc-en-Ciel is a 20 minute short-feature, winner of the Best Actress Award for Sofia Ferrão's electrifying performance (Mostralíngua '09 Portuguese Language International Film Festival). It is distributed by Bosque Secreto in Portugal and by ArtCinema in Russia.
