- Appliance Efficiency Program
The Appliance Efficiency Program is an active component of the California Energy Commission's Efficiency Division. Regulated by the Residential Buildings and Appliances Unit, the program is codified by Title 20, Sections 1601 through 1608, of the California Code of Regulations, better known as the Appliance Efficiency Regulations. A Database of Energy Efficient Appliances is also maintained under the program.
History
California's first appliance efficiency standards went into effect in 1977. Since that time the standards have been modified several times, with the most recent version revised on December 21, 2007.
