One writer with theWeather Channel describes "a textbook case" of a "mesoscale convective systems", bringing thunderstorms with huge amounts of rain and lightning. [Stu Ostro, [http://www.weather.com/blog/weather/8_13067.html?from=wxcenter_news " A Textbook Case"] , TheWeather Channel ,July 19 ,2007 ] Normally minor streams, particularly Glass Hollow Creek, became raging torrents, pushing debris before them, backing up water into the town. No deaths or injuries were reported by the emergency management people, but 50 people were reported to have been evacuated from their homes by boat. Despite the fact nearly every home and business sustained damage, news reports indicate the town is not eligible for Federal disaster aid.Dan Simmons, [http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2007/07/19/news/00lead.txt '500-year' rain leaves mess in southwestern Wisconsin and Iowa] , La Crosse "Tribune",July 19 ,2007 ]References
