commuter rail betweenBergen and Arna,Voss andMyrdal ,Norway . The service is operated byNorges Statsbaner using M69electric multiple unit s. It is provided on the mainlineBergensbanen and all services terminate at Bergen Station.ervice
NSB operates half-hour
headway from Bergen Station toArna Station , through theUlriken Tunnel . This service provides a high-frequency service to the community of Arna using the only means to go under the mountainUlriken . There are further sixteen departures each way to Voss, of which six only stop at Dale before Voss, while ten stop at all stations. Three services continue from Voss toMyrdal Station .The operational deficits are financed by the
Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications . Fares are not integrated withSkyss , the county transit authority, or Tide, the bus company in Hordaland.Future expansion
* Specific plans to expand the Arna Tunnel to
double track are under consideration. This would allow NSB to increase headway to fifteen minutes to Arna, and increase the total number of services on all of Bergensbanen.
* An alternative to this is to build theBergen Light Rail as a parallel tunnel to Arna, and terminating the shuttle trains to Arna.External links
