Ulriken , Arna is geographically close to downtown Bergen, but it takes some time to drive there by road as there is no road tunnel as of yet. However, atrain journey fromArna station to Bergen only takes eight minutes. The stations of Takvam and Trengereid are also within the borough. The borough consists of the parts Haukeland, Unneland,Espeland , Rødland, Haugland, Gaupås,Ytre Arna ,Indre Arna , Arnatveit, Garnes, Takvam, Songstad and Trengereid.History
The parish of Haus was established as a municipality
January 1 ,1838 (seeformannskapsdistrikt ), including the annexBruvik . OnJanuary 1 ,1870 Bruvik with 2,062 inhabitants was separated from Haus to form a municipality of its own. The split left Haus with a population of 4,229. OnJanuary 1 ,1964 the part of Haus situated at Osterøy was transferred to the new municipality ofOsterøy , whereas the remaining part on the mainland formed the municipality ofArna .On
January 1 ,1972 the city Bergen was expanded by merging the municipalities Arna, Bergen,Fana ,Laksevåg andÅsane to one. By the time of the merger Arna had a population of 11 766.Ådna is the old name for Arna. It is today only seen in the area names Ådnamarka, Ådnavegen, Ådnatun and Ådnanipa (Ådnanipa is often called Arnanipa).
