- Davis Island (Mississippi)
-
Davis Island is a large island located in the Mississippi River. It lies mostly in the United States state of Mississippi but is also partly in Louisiana. It is located southwest of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
The island is approximately 30,000 acres (120 km2) in size depending on the Mississippi River level. Confederate President Jefferson Davis's Brierfield Plantation as well as his brother Joseph Davis's Hurricane Plantation were located on the island. The remains of the plantations are still there. The island is now divided among several different hunting clubs.
