The original Seven Corners Shopping Center opened in 1956, and replaced in the mid-1990's with a power center.

The parking garage of a Home Depot hardware store in Seven Corners was the scene of one of the shootings in the 2002 Beltway sniper attacks; Linda Franklin was slain while she returned to her car in the crowded parking garage.
