1/500 scale model of Dongdaemun Design Plaza & ParkGeneral information Location Dongdaemun, Seoul, Republic of Korea Website http://ddp.seoul.go.kr The Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park (DDP) is a large urban development project under construction in Dongdaemun, Seoul, South Korea. It will contain of a multi-use park, a fashion plaza, an underground mall, and a restoration of a number of items of national heritage. Originally planned for completion by 2010 to coincide with Seoul's designation as World Design Capital that year the DDP will now complete in 2011. Organizers hope to make Dongdaemun the fashion hub of South Korea and possibly the entire Asia-Pacific region.

Design Plaza
The Dongdaemun Design Plaza, designed by Iraqi British architect Zaha Hadid, will house a fashion design information center with seminar rooms and a lecture hall. There will be a multi-purpose convention hall and a number of exhibition halls. It will act as a test-bed platform for various corporate design products as well as a place for international cultural exchange and cooperation.[1]
Design Park
The Dongdaemun Design Park will replace Dondaemun's older baseball and soccer stadiums and their adjoining flea markets and street vendors. A general commercial district with areas for athletics is expected to be built.
Underground Cultural Plaza
The Underground Cultural Plaza will allow access to the east and west sides of the Dongdaemun Fashion District which is bisected at ground level by a major road. It will connect to the Euljiro Underground Arcade, as well as to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station. The underground plaza will be incorporated into the structure of the design park and design plaza. It will house venues for performances and exhibitions.
Baseball Stadium
To replace the former Dongdaemun Stadium, a new baseball stadium will be built in Gocheok-dong.
