:"For a more comprehensive list, see the
List of Asia-related topics ."Asia is the world's largest and most populouscontinent . It covers 8.6% of theEarth 's total surface area (or 29.4% of its land area) and, with almost 4 billion people, it contains more than 60% of the world's currenthuman population . Chiefly in the eastern andnorthern hemisphere s, Asia is traditionally defined as part of thelandmass ofEurasia – with the western portion of the latter occupied byEurope – lying east of theSuez Canal ,east of theUral Mountains , and south of theCaucasus Mountains and the Caspian andBlack Sea s. It is bounded to the east by thePacific Ocean , to the south by theIndian Ocean , and to the north by theArctic Ocean . Given its size and diversity, Asia – a toponym dating back toclassical antiquity – is more a cultural concept incorporating a number ofregion s and peoples than a homogeneous physical entity [" [http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9110518/Asia Asia] ".
