The Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association is a ACHA club hockey league comprising colleges and universities in the Midwestern USA. The Gold Division comprises ACHA Division II club hockey programs. The Silver Division comprises smaller colleges and universities at the ACHA D-II and D-III levels. Some of the D-II programs field JV programs in the Silver Division.

Format

The MACHA is made up of two divisions. The Gold Division is made of 9 teams from larger universities. The Silver Division is made of 18 teams separated into the Silver-North and Silver-South, each with 9 teams. The Silver Division comprises small private schools and JV teams.

  • Changes for 2011-12 season: Four new teams will join the Silver Divisions, Wisconsin-Platteville (D-II), Robert Morris (Black) (D-III), Northern Illinois (D-III) and Iowa State (D-III).
  • The Gold Division playoffs will still include the top six teams with the top two teams receiving a bye in the first round. The Silver playoffs will feature a cross-divisional format. The #1 team in the North will play the #4 team from the South, #2 North vs. #3 South, #1 South vs. #4 North and #2 South vs. #3 North. The teams that advance from those game will play in the semifinals and the two winners will play for the Silver Division championship.
