New York State has 37 state-designated historic sites, 22 of which are also NHLs, and are described in List of National Historic Landmarks in New York. [Twenty-three NHLs in New York listed show SHS designation. One SHS, the Crown Point State Historic Site includes two separately listed NHLs, Fort Crown Point NHL and Fort Frederic NHL.] There are fifteen others. Some may be sites of national importance, which might have been NHL-eligible but, as state-owned and -administered sites, may have had lessened need for additional protection. Others may be of state-level but not national importance. These 15 are:
