Hyde Hall was the unusually large home—a neoclassical country mansion—of George Clarke, 1768-1835, heir of George Clarke (Governor).cite web|url= http://nysparks.state.ny.us/sites/info.asp?siteID=13|title=Hyde Hall State Historic Site summary|publisher=New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation] cite web|url=http://www.hydehall.org |title=George Clarke, Builder of Hyde Hall, 1768-1835 (click on History and Architecture)|publisher=Hyde Hall, Inc.] One of the finest American houses, it combines the architectural traditions of England and America. It is one of the few surviving works of the architect Philip Hooker.

It is located on Otsego Lake, within Glimmerglass State Park. Hyde Hall Bridge is a covered bridge on its grounds, built with the house.

It is a New York State Historic Site and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1986.,citation|title=PDFlink| [http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Text/71000555.pdf National Register of Historic Places Inventory-Nomination: Hyde Hall] |291 KB|author=Carolyn Pitts|date=December, 1985|publisher=National Park Service and PDFlink| [http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Photos/71000555.pdf Accompanying photos, exterior and interior, from 1963.] |1.85 MB]
