Washington is an unincorporated area of King County located between the cities of Kirkland, Bothell, and Kenmore along the northeast edge ofLake Washington . Due to increasing development in the last two decades, it has become the subject of consideration for potential annexation by both Kirkland and Kenmore. At present, it is under official consideration to be annexed by Kirkland.Because Juanita is not officially demarcated, it is not entirely clear where its boundaries are to be drawn. The city of Kirkland, in its annexation proposals, has defined the "Juanita Neighborhood" as a rough square with NE 145th Street to the north,
I-405 to the east, NE 132nd Street to the south and 100th Avenue NE to the west. However, in more colloquial usage, it is also defined to include the areas extending along Juanita Bay toward Forbes Creek, including Juanita Elementary School,Juanita High School , Juanita Beach and Juanita Bay Park to the south — all part of the city of Kirkland — and the area around the Juanita Drive corridor to the west, defined by Kirkland's annexation plans as the "Finn Hill Neighborhood."Though primarily residential, Juanita is home to a number of parks, including Juanita Bay Park, Juanita Beach, and Heronfield Wetlands (in Kirkland city limits), Edith Moulton Park and Windsor Vista (in the "Juanita Neighborhood"), and Juanita Woodlands,
O.O. Denny Park ,Big Finn Hill Park , andSaint Edward State Park (in the "Finn Hill Neighborhood").The major arterials in Juanita are 100th Avenue NE, Juanita Drive, and NE 132nd Street. Juanita is served by Metro bus lines 234, 236, 255, 260, 277, and 935.
