The river begins in the southeastern part of the
Erymanthos ranges in a rocky landscape with several streams. The river flows into an area rich in pine trees and passes into several villages includingKertezi andTripotamo . It has several tributaries with streams up toLampeia , its length is as far as 15 km. There is a small gorge nearby and are partly forested. It enters a hilly setting rich in dense forest and for 35 km shares the prefectural boundary with Ilia. It flows underneath a one-lane bridge that is the GR-74 (Tripoli - Olympia - Pyrgos, the bridge is with arch support, the section will become the new highway, a new better two-lane bridge will be added north of the bank. The river empties into theAlfeios 5 km west of theLadon confluence. An old highway used before the mid2nd millennium that connectedPatras andMegalopoli along withMessene ran north of the river and had a bridge. It only has a few bridges and they are north of Tripotamo.
