Geography

The river begins in the southeastern part of the Erymanthos ranges in a rocky landscape with several streams. The river flows into an area rich in pine trees and passes into several villages including Kertezi and Tripotamo. It has several tributaries with streams up to Lampeia, its length is as far as 15 km. There is a small gorge nearby and are partly forested. It enters a hilly setting rich in dense forest and for 35 km shares the prefectural boundary with Ilia. It flows underneath a one-lane bridge that is the GR-74 (Tripoli - Olympia - Pyrgos, the bridge is with arch support, the section will become the new highway, a new better two-lane bridge will be added north of the bank. The river empties into the Alfeios 5 km west of the Ladon confluence. An old highway used before the mid 2nd millennium that connected Patras and Megalopoli along with Messene ran north of the river and had a bridge. It only has a few bridges and they are north of Tripotamo.
