As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,012 people, 397 households, and 277 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 1,975.9 people per square mile (766.1/km²). There were 451 housing units at an average density of 880.5/sq mi (341.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.41% White, 0.20% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.10% Asian, and 0.20% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.20% of the population.There were 397 households out of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% were married couples living together, 17.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.95.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 85.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.7 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $26,417, and the median income for a family was $31,645. Males had a median income of $32,000 versus $20,625 for females. The

Bainbridge students attend high school at
Paint Valley High School , which contains students from Bainbridge and Bournville. The school mascot is the bearcat, and the teams play in theScioto Valley Conference .Bainbridge is also home of the world's first Dental School. Opened by
Dr. John M. Harris in 1828, the school is now a museum.References
