As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 533 people, 256 households, and 136 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 2,605.0 people per square mile (1,029.0/km²). There were 277 housing units at an average density of 1,353.8/sq mi (534.8/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.69% White, 0.19% Native American, 0.38% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.56% of the population.There were 256 households out of which 25.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.8% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.5% were non-families. 43.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.08 and the average family size was 2.86.
In the village the population was spread out with 21.4% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 22.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.8 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $24,250, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $30,227 versus $18,000 for females. The
