Bremen is a village in Fairfield County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,265 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Bremen is located at coor dms|39|42|16|N|82|25|49|W|city (39.704366, -82.430149)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 1,265 people, 483 households, and 360 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,515.3 people per square mile (588.5/km²). There were 506 housing units at an average density of 606.1/sq mi (235.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.45% White, and 0.55% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.32% of the population.

There were 483 households out of which 39.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.0% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.3% were non-families. 23.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.06.

In the village the population was spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 88.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $38,036, and the median income for a family was $44,844. Males had a median income of $33,472 versus $22,202 for females. The per capita income for the village was $16,408.
