Singaporean five-dollar bill

The Singaporean five-dollar bill is the third smallest denomination banknote issued in Singapore. As of 31 March 2003, there are about 37,044,000 notes in circulation, appearing under four series of designs, namely the Orchid Series, the Bird Series, the Ship Series and the Portrait Series. The note is generally green-coloured irrespective of design.

Orchid Series

This note was first issued on 12 June 1967. The note features a Vanda T.M.A. design on the front, and a busy scene on the Singapore River on the back. The note is 127 mm x 71 mm in size.

Bird Series

It was first issued on 6 August 1976. A Red-whiskered Bulbul design is located on the front of the note, while a scene of cable cars and an aerial view of Keppel harbour is on the back. It is 133 mm x 66 mm in size.

hip Series

First issued on 21 August 1989, it has a design of a Chinese lion with a ball in the central panal, a Commerson's Anchovy or Stolephorus commersonii as the fish design, and a view of the PSA Container Terminal on the back of the note. It is 133 mm x 63 mm in size.

Portrait Series

The note has a garden city theme, with a portrayal of the old tembusu tree on the back of the note. On the front of the note, is a Gold-Ringed Cowrie design. The note was first issued on 9 September 1999, and is 133 mm x 66 mm in size. The polymer version of the note was issued on 18 May 2007.
