The Danish parliamentary election of 1984 was held on 10 January 1984 when the Social Democrats and the Progress Party together with the rest of the opposition voted against the government's state budget bill. In the election the Conservative Party got its best result in all its history, when it gained 16 seats and increased its percentage from 14,5 to 23,4. The coalition partners Venstre and Christian People's Party also increased their seats with respectively 2 and 1 seat. The fourth government party, the Centre Democrats, however lost 10 of their 16 seats. Overall the government's number of seats was increased with 3 seats, and Poul Schlüter could continue as Prime Minister.
