Wildwood is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 34,831 at the 2005.

Wildwood is the home of the Al Foster Trailcite|url=http://www.cityofwildwood.com/egov/docs/1148570503649.htm|title=Al Foster Trail.] , and numerous other trails, parks, and reserves such as Rockwood and Babler State Parks. Situated near Hidden Valley Ski Resort and Six Flags St.Louis, Wildwood is now home of a new St. Louis Community College campus.

Geography

Wildwood is located at coor dms|38|34|54|N|90|38|58|W|city (38.581653, -90.649427)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 66.4 square miles (172.1 km²), making it the 3rd largest city (in area) in Missouricite|url=http://www.cityofwildwood.com/egov/docs/1135780125494.htm|title=City of Wildwood|date=2007-07-09] . 66.0 square miles (171.0 km²) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km²) of it (0.59%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 32,884 people, 10,837 households, and 9,243 families residing in the city. Estimated median house/condo value in 2005: $345,100. The population density was 498.0 people per square mile (192.3/km²). There were 11,229 housing units at an average density of 170.1/sq mi (65.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.74% White, 1.62% African American, 0.12% Native American, 2.38% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.38% of the population.

There were 10,837 households out of which 51.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 79.0% were married couples living together, 4.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.7% were non-families. 12.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.02 and the average family size was 3.32.

In the city the population was spread out with 33.2% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 5.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 97.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males.

Estimated median household income in 2005: $101,000. Males had a median income of $75,849 versus $41,224 for females. The per capita income for the city was $38,485. About 1.6% of families and 2.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.1% of those under age 18 and 5.4% of those age 65 or over.
