Bunceton is a city in Cooper County, Missouri, United States. The population was 348 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Bunceton is located at coor dms|38|47|20|N|92|47|55|W|city (38.788960, -92.798740)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.5 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 348 people, 152 households, and 93 families residing in the city. The population density was 368.1 people per square mile (141.4/km²). There were 182 housing units at an average density of 192.5/sq mi (74.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 90.80% White, 6.90% African American, 0.57% Native American, and 1.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.29% of the population.

There were 152 households out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.4% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.8% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.89.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 105.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $27,917, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $21,696 versus $19,167 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,202. About 7.3% of families and 11.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.4% of those under age 18 and 7.3% of those age 65 or over.
