Biography

Cherrad started off his playing career with OGC Nice's reserve team in 1998. He played his first game for the first team in the 1999–2000 season, making 5 appearances. He stayed with the club until 2003, before he was loaned out to Belgian club K.A.A. Gent. He played 6 games with the club, scoring 2 goals but . After that, he had a brief spell with Tunisian side Esperence De Tunis. He signed with SC Bastia in January 2005 and stayed with the club for two years. In the summer of 2007 Bastia decided against renewing his contract and he was released.

On 14 November 2007 he signed for Algerian side MC Alger on an eighteen-month contract. His contract also included a clause which meant that should he receive an offer he wished to accept, then he could leave the club.[1]

On June 11, 2008, he returned to SC Bastia on a one-year deal.[2]

Because of a succession of injuries, he did not score a lot of goals, and as a consequence he has not been renewed by Bastia.

On July 20, 2009 Cherrad signed a contract with the newly promoted to French Ligue 2 AC Arles-Avignon.[3] Cherrad was released from his contract with Arles in December 2009.

On 2 February 2010 CS Maritimo signed the Algerian forward on a free transfer until June 2011, the 29-year-old was recently released from French club Arles.[4]

International career

He was part of the Algerian 2004 African Nations Cup team who finished second in their group in the first round of competition before being defeated by Morocco in the quarter-finals. Cherrad has 18 caps and 7 goals with the Algerian national team.
