However Zimbabwe narrowly missed out on their maiden World Cup finals, finishing second behind Cameroon.
2006 Qualifiers
Zimbabwe were drawn in the same group as Nigeria and Algeria. They failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup held in Germany, finishing third behind Nigeria and Angola.
2010 Qualifiers
Zimbabwe were drawn in the same group as Namibia, Guinea and Kenya with the 12 group winners and 8 best runners-up progressing to second round of qualification.
The Warriors started qualification under manager Valinhos with a 0-0 draw away to Guinea on 1 June. Namibia were then defeated 2-0 on 8 June at the
Rufaro Stadium , Harare to send Zimbabwe to the top of their 2010 World Cup & Africa Cup of Nations qualification group.African Nations Cup record
