David Provan (footballer born 1956)

David "Davie" Alexander Provan (born 8 May 1956 in Gourock, Scotland) is a former Scottish footballer.

Club career

During his career he played for Kilmarnock and Celtic. While playing for Celtic Provan won four Scottish Premier League medals, two Scottish Cup and one League Cup. Provan retired in 1986 after he began to suffer from ME.[1]

International career

He earned ten caps and scored one goal for the Scotland national football team and was a non-playing member of their 1982 World Cup squad.[1]

Media work

Since his retirement he has worked in the Scottish sporting media, as a pundit for Sky Sports.[1]

He is also a columnist for the Scottish edition of the News of the World.[1] He is also a regular on the Glasgow based radio station Radio Clyde and its weekend football programme Super Scoreboard.

Personal life

Provan grew up supporting Rangers. His team mates would joke about this while he played for Celtic.[2]

His wife's name is Fiona and he has two daughters: Kelly and Anna.[1]
