28 October 1956 inAirdrie ) is a former professional football player and is currently a coach as well as doing regular punditry work forBBC Scotland . He was a centre forward. He played for several clubs in his playing career including Rangers, Hearts, home town Airdrieonians and West Ham United. His longest and most successful spells were those at Tynecastle and Broomfield . He has also managed several clubs, including Partick Thistle,
Hamilton Academical , Hearts (twice, once as caretaker), St. Johnstone and Berwick Rangers. In 1982, Clark won theScottish PFA Players' Player of the Year award. His work with
BBC Scotland previously included TV Commentary, where he was the regular summariser to main commentator Rob MacLean (Now with Setanta Sports) on SPL matches and they formed a formidable double act where Clark would usually always agree with MacLean and utter the words 'You're right Rob!' He would also regularly describe rugby-style challenges as "not a foul for me, Rob, it's just two big guys going for the ball".His analysis was second to none. Comments such as "You're right Rob, Alan Thompson's been the best player on the pitch today, but the games all about goals so Henrik Larsson is my man of the match." ensured him legendary status. Clark contradicted this by, famously, awarding Jean-Louis Valois the man of the match award in a 5-1 victory for Hearts over Hibernian - this despite Mark De Vries having scored 4 of Hearts' 5 goals that afternoon.
He is currently striker coach at Aberdeen where he has been since 2004.
