- Sepiapterin reductase
In
enzymology , a sepiapterin reductase (EC number|1.1.1.153) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :7,8-dihydrobiopterin + NADP+ sepiapterin + NADPH + H+
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are
7,8-dihydrobiopterin and NADP+, whereas its 3 products aresepiapterin , NADPH, and H+.This enzyme belongs to the family of
oxidoreductase s, specifically those acting on the CH-OH group of donor with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is 7,8-dihydrobiopterin:NADP+ oxidoreductase. This enzyme participates infolate biosynthesis .tructural studies
As of late 2007, 5 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|1NAS, PDB link|1OAA, PDB link|1SEP, PDB link|1Z6Z, and PDB link|2BD0.
