The Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) is composed of more than 140 hospitals and health care organizations in the Chicago metropolitan area, founded in 1935.

The Council's Institutional members consist of hospitals (and their integrated delivery systems) in the eight-county Chicago area. Associate members include hospitals outside these counties, as well as physician groups, nursing homes, outpatient treatment centers, insurers, medical schools and other health care-related organizations.

Mission

The Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) is a membership and service organization whose function is to help members care for their communities through access to health care and improved delivery of services.

The Council attempts to accomplish its mission by:

  • Advocating on behalf of members before government, business, the public, and others
  • Enhancing the image of healthcare and members
  • Providing research, data analytics, and thought leadership
  • Offering a broad array of market-driven, value added products and services
  • Educating and collaborating to enhance leadership, clinical, and administrative skills

Illinois Poison Center

The Illinois Poison Center (IPC) is the only certified, regional poison center in Illinois, serving more than 12 million residents in 102 counties in the state of Illinois. The poison call center is staffed with poison experts including – physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other specially trained in toxicology – provide life-saving services to Illinois residents and health care professionals. The IPC deals with disaster preparedness, biological, radiological, nuclear and chemical agents; toxic fumes and gases; food poisoning; statistics related to poisoning issues; and other related topics.
