As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 888 people, 432 households, and 241 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 778.4 per square mile (300.8/km²). There were 698 housing units at an average density of 611.9/sq mi (236.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.52% White, 0.23% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.11% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.35% of the population.There were 432 households out of which 19.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.9% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.2% were non-families. 39.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.01 and the average family size was 2.68.
In the village the population was spread out with 18.4% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 21.1% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 26.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $27,065, and the median income for a family was $36,750. Males had a median income of $27,222 versus $20,982 for females. The
per capita income for the village was $20,501. About 7.8% of families and 13.5% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 17.9% of those under age 18 and 17.1% of those age 65 or over.References
