U.S. state ofMichigan . The population was 359 at the 2000 census.The village is in the sparsely populated southwest corner of Cheboygan County, lying mostly within Nunda Township, though a small portion lies in adjacent Wilmot Township. It is on
Interstate 75 , 19 miles north of Gaylord and 9 miles south of Indian River and about 34 miles south of theMackinac Bridge .Geography

Sturgeon River where the west branch joins the main branch at coord|45|16|24|N|84|36|16|W|.According to the

As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 359 people, 131 households, and 91 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 403.5 per square mile (155.7/km²). There were 158 housing units at an average density of 177.6/sq mi (68.5/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.33% White and 1.67% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.28% of the population.There were 131 households out of which 35.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.6% were married couples living together, 16.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.8% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.27.
In the village the population was spread out with 30.9% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $22,813, and the median income for a family was $26,500. Males had a median income of $27,500 versus $17,250 for females. The
