It is about 21 km south-east of Ernakulam and 8 km east of Tripunithura.
Marthoman church (second Jerusalem) one of the ancient and prominent churches of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church, is situated here.Mulanthuruthy also holds the Grama Panchayat and Block Panchayath with the same name.This beautiful land holds almost all the tourists attractions-Enchanting back waters, historic monuments, sacred pilgrim centres, magical festivals, spectacular art forms, splendid cultural heritage, spicy cuisine and unadulterated countryside life.
By road, Mulanthuruthy is easily accessible from Kanjiramattom (5 km), Tripunithura and Ernakulam. Mulanthuruthy Railway Station is the local railhead. Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport.

It is about 21 km south-east of Ernakulam and 8 km east of Tripunithura. By road, Mulanthuruthy is easily accessible from Kanjiramattom (5 km), Tripunithura and Ernakulam.

Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census, Mulamthuruthy had a population of 23615 with 11667 males and 11948 females.[2]
Places of worship
Marthoman church
This church is believed to be built between AD 1100 and 1125. Kunnassery Kunchakko Tharakan who was the minister of the king of Kaduthuruthy was instrumental in building this church.
The church is famous for its historical importance. Mulanthuruthy church was the venue of the famous Mulanthuruthy Syond in 1876 convened by the Holy patriarch of Antioch Peter III. The Late Lamented Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Yakoob III visited this church, during 1964. The present Patriarch Moran or Ignatius Zakka II was have visited the Church twice, during 1982 and 2000. Marthoman church is now a Cathedral of Syrian orthodox church.
Kanjiramattom mosque
The mosque is situated at Kanjiramattom, 3 km from Mulanthuruthy . It is believed that the mosque was erected over the mortal remains of a Muslim saint, Sheikh Parid. Another great Muslim saint, Baver is supposed to have prayed here and attained salvation. The Kodikuthu festival, which falls in December–January, is a major attraction for thousands of devotees. e.
Perumpilly Symhasana Church
The church has got small museum where the belongings of Parumala Thirumeni is preserved. located 400 meters away from mulanthuruthy town.
Ameda Serpent Temple
The temple is known for strict rituals and it s devotion to the Serpent God. Large number of devotees comes here every day to offer prayers.It is around 2 km away from Mulanthuruthy.
