One of the crosses of Mulanthuruthy Church was installed in 1125. That was the beginning of today's Dayara. In 1200 it was elevated as Kurishupalli. In 1809 the younger Bava of kattumangattu family was interred here. Parumala Mar Gregorios resided here for a long period of time. It was here, on 10 December 1896 that Parumala Thirumeni was consecrated as Metropolitan. On 22 Edavam 1877 the consecration of the Dayara took place. In 1976 Metropolitan Joseph Mar Pakkomios renovated the Dayara. On 10 December 1976 the holy relics of Parumala Thirumeni were interred here.

The Vettikal Dayara is 5 km away from Mulanthuruthy. Fr. P.A.S. Yohanan is its manager now.
