Scottish North Eastern Railway

Scottish North Eastern Railway

The Scottish North Eastern Railway was created when the Aberdeen Railway amalgamated with the Scottish Midland Junction Railway (which had previously absorbed the Arbroath and Forfar Railway on 29 July 1856.

The Alyth Railway was operated by the SNER from opening in 12 August 1861 and ultimately vested in it from 1 February 1863.

The company was, in turn, absorbed by the Caledonian Railway on 10 August 1866, which in turn became part of the LMS on 1 July 1923.
