Canadian Arctic islands inNunavut ,Canada . It is the largest island inUngava Bay on the northern coast ofQuebec at coord|60|25|N|68|08|W|. The island is named for the Akpat, the Thick-billed Murre ("Uria lomvia"), which live on ledges along the limestone cliffs surrounding the island.The island is predominantly
limestone and ringed with steep cliffs 150 to 250 m that rise above sea level. The cliffs are broken in many places by deepravine s allowing access to the flat plateau 23 km wide and 45 km long. It has an area of 903 km².At the southern end of the island there are remains of a Dorset settlement.
