Kentucky Route 67 ) ends atU.S. Route 23 at Wurtland. This highway serves to connect Wurtland and the surrounding towns of Greenup and Flatwoods to the EastPark industrial park andInterstate 64 .Geography

United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 1.5square mile s (3.8km² ), of which, 1.4 square miles (3.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (2.04%) is water.Demographics

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,049 people, 400 households, and 290 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 731.1 people per square mile (283.2/km²). There were 436 housing units at an average density of 303.9/sq mi (117.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.43% White, 0.19% African American, 0.19% Native American, and 0.19% from two or more races.There were 400 households out of which 25.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.0% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.5% were non-families. 26.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.82.
In the city the population was spread out with 18.5% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 26.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 84.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.5 males.
