Air Land Emergency Resource Team

The Air Land Emergency Resource Team (ALERT) is a Christian service ministry and training organization located in Big Sandy, TX.

Training

Every ALERT Recruit goes through a 9-week Basic Training, modeled after military boot camp. It combines intense physical training with drill and ceremony, scrict uniform and living area inspections, and religious training. In order for the Recruit to promote to the rank of Responder (the first ALERT rank) he must pass these inspections, maintain a daily journal, pass minimum physical standards, and memorize the New Testament book of 1 Peter.

After Basic Training, each Responder undergoes Emergency Response Training, which incorporates Basic Fire Fighting, Basic High-Angle Rescue, Counseling, Evangelism, Open Water Diving, Advanced Open Water Diving, Rescue Systems One, Responding to Emergencies, Sawyer, Search-And-Rescue, and Special Response Diver (in coordination with the National Academy of Police Diving).

As a training organization, it is a non-accredited vocational technical school, with programs in aircraft maintenance, aquatics, auto mechanics, aviation, leadership, emergency medical technician (basic and paramedic), emergency services operation, law enforcement, and property and facility care.

Public Service

As a public service organization, ALERT Responders use their dive recovery training and land search and rescue training to serve local authorities on a volunteer basis. A notable search and rescue

In addition to specialized skills, ALERT units have volunteered to serve in acts including cemetery cleanup, playground construction.

As a disaster relief Christian ministry, the ALERT Responders are deployed at the request of government officials in response to natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and ice storms.

Organizational Ties

ALERT was founded under the auspices of, and still retains a close association with the Institute in Basic Life Principles, the non-denominational ministry founded by Bill Gothard. Because of its close association, it has often been included in the criticism directed at that organization.

Public Service in Australia is an industry that employs paid government workers (big money).

In Australia any type of military training is accrediated, and you are classed as either, Navy, Army or Air Force. - Basiclly you can come out of the 'Forces'- qualified and trained in any given Trade. ( Skilled in other words).

Military people in Australia have badges, titles and wear uniforms, and are well respected in their communities: - They are also paid money (good money).
