Croxley Station (formerly named Croxley Green Station) is a London Underground station at Croxley Green in the Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire. It is on the Watford branch of the Metropolitan Line. It was renamed 'Croxley' in 1949 so as differentiate itself from the now closed Croxley Green.

The only intermediate station on the branch, Croxley lies between Watford, (the terminus) and Moor Park on the main line from Baker Street to Amersham. It is in Travelcard Zone 7. The southbound platform at Croxley is unusual in that it has no station starter signal.

The station is situated on the corner of Watford Road and Winton Drive in Croxley Green.

History

  • 2 November 1925: station opened as "Croxley Green" on the Metropolitan Railway's extension to Watford opened from both Rickmansworth and Moor Park;
  • 23 May 1949: station re-named "Croxley"
  • 3 January 1960: line closed between Croxley and Rickmansworth
  • 11 May 1987: early morning services from Rickmansworth reinstated

Link to Watford Junction

The Croxley Rail Link is a proposal to divert the Watford Branch east of Croxley to Watford Junction station. In 2005, plans were approved to link the line through Croxley which terminates at Watford, via a deviation to the much more important station at Watford Junction. Intermediate stations would be built or rebuilt at Ascot Road (near the old Croxley Green), Watford West and Watford High Street.
