Morgaushsky District

Morgaushsky District (Russian: Морга́ушский райо́н; Chuvash: Муркаш районĕ, Murkaš rajonĕ) is an administrative and municipal district (raion) of the Chuvash Republic, Russia. It is located in the northern portion of the republic and borders with the Mari El Republic in the north, Cheboksarsky District in the east, Alikovsky District in the south, and Yadrinsky District in the west. Its administrative center is the rural locality (a village) of Morgaushi. District's population: 34,885 (2010 Census preliminary results);^[1] 37,127 (2002 Census);^[2] 38,465 (1989 Census).^[3]

The district was formed on February 10, 1944.^{[citation needed]}

The head of the Morgaushsky District administration is Yury Alexandrovich Ivanov.
