Coosa serves the areas of Garden Lakes, Cave Spring, Alto Park, and Coosa Valley. The mascot is the bald eagle. The school colors are white and black, although red is sometimes used instead of white. The current principal is Trevor Hubbard.

Athletics
The Eagles field several athletic teams. The head football coach is Chad Perry, the head basketball coach is John McFarther, the head girls basketball coach is Lauren Chambers, and the Head Boys Soccer Coach is Randy Vice. The Athletic Director is Chad Perry. Coosa also fields teams in Girls Soccer (Lauren Chambers), Baseball (Gus Bell), Tennis (Marie Lewis), Track and Field (Ricky Riordan), Wrestling (Zach Morrison), Girls Softball (Josh Agan), Cross Country (Alan Gossett) and Competition Cheerleading (Beth Faine). Other cheerleading opportunities are offered. The football team has won 2 state championships while the basketball team had several state playoff appearances, many under legendary head coach, Larry Bing. On December 5, 2008, the basketball court was named for Coach Manus.
Athletic playoffs are becoming part of the routine at Coosa High School. Last season it was the cheerleaders, basketball teams, tennis, track, and academic teams which went on to post season play, this season something remarkable has happened. Every fall sport team has made it to the state playoffs; softball, cross country, football, and competition cheerleading all advanced to the next level of play. "I personally believe it is a result of hard work and perseverance of our coaches and athletes" replied Coach Chad Perry, the Coosa High Athletic director. Principal Trevor Hubbard stated "It's really a tribute to our coaches, athletes, and community that we've had such a wide range of success this fall. I'm very proud of what our student-athletes have accomplished."
Academics
The school also has literary/academic teams. The Academic Decathlon team has won 15 of the last 19 Floyd County Championships. The Academic team also continues to compete in the High Q competition. They have won 2 of the last 4 High Q matches.
The Eagles have won the Governor's Cup for the most improved SAT scores in the state and region. Coosa has also been named a Georgia School of Excellence. This year (2010) Coosa had the highest SAT scores in Floyd County and the third highest scores in the state.
Clubs
Clubs include FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), FBLA-PBL, Academic Decathlon, Weird Science Club, Technology Student Association, Student Council, Optimist Club and Jam Club, and others.
