Stratmoor is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The population was 6,650 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Stratmoor is located at coor dms|38|46|32|N|104|46|55|W|city (38.775644, -104.781840)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.6 km²), of which, 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.68%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 6,650 people, 2,209 households, and 1,705 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,283.3 people per square mile (882.3/km²). There were 2,284 housing units at an average density of 784.2/sq mi (303.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 65.65% White, 12.27% African American, 2.06% Native American, 2.59% Asian, 0.27% Pacific Islander, 9.16% from other races, and 8.00% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.56% of the population.

There were 2,209 households out of which 42.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% were married couples living together, 17.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.8% were non-families. 15.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.97 and the average family size was 3.27.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 32.6% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $37,662, and the median income for a family was $39,145. Males had a median income of $26,514 versus $22,463 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $14,776. About 9.8% of families and 12.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 17.6% of those under age 18 and 5.2% of those age 65 or over.
